Sanda (Free Fighting) is a dynamic combat system combining powerful striking with practical throwing and takedown techniques. Drawing from the traditional art of Sanda, training incorporates punches, kicks, knees, sweeps, trips and wrestling-style throws, creating a well-rounded approach to stand-up fighting. Rather than focusing on a single range, Sanda teaches practitioners to move fluidly between striking and close-range grappling.

Sanda (散打) — “free fighting” or “free combat.” San (散) can mean “dispersed/free,” while Da (打) means “to strike/fight.

As well as Sanda (Ring Based) Kickboxing, Sanda Combat Arts also consists of:

Sanda Combat Arts is trained as a practical and adaptable fighting system. Students develop strong fundamentals in footwork, movement, timing, distance management, striking combinations, clinch work and takedowns. The emphasis is on applying techniques against realistic resistance, developing the ability to remain composed under pressure while continually improving speed, power, balance and technique.

SANDA COMBAT ARTS

Mind, Body, Spirit

At its core, this system is about more than fighting. Fighting is the practice; cultivation is the purpose.

Martial arts develop mind, body, and spirit through discipline, balance, and self-awareness.

THE MIND — Sharpened through strategy, focus, and composure under pressure. Learn to remain calm, adapt, and respond rather than react.

THE BODY — Strengthened through conditioning, sparring, and technical mastery. Develop power through relaxation, timing, balance, and efficiency, rather than brute force.

THE SPIRIT — Cultivated through respect, perseverance, humility, courage, and self-control. True strength is the ability to control yourself, not simply overcome others.

The Tao of Fighting

  • Learn to balance hardness and softness, movement and stillness, action and restraint. Know when to advance, retreat, strike, yield, or remain still.
  • Through practice, technique becomes instinct and force becomes flow.
  • The ultimate goal is mastery of oneself.
  • Train the body. Discipline the mind. Cultivate the spirit. Seek balance.
